Wu Ming Ahn was an incredible man.  He was filled with vision and insight as well as the capacity to be creative and systematic.  With his analytical mind he continued to teach his students with the utmost sincerity.  He captured the true spirit of Kung fu.  Many masters developed their own systems of fighting and many modified already existing systems.  Kung Fu is the hard work that is put into one's profession until mastery is obtained.  The Wu Ree Institute of Kung Fu was established and developed by Wy Ch'ien Ree a student of Wu Ming Ahn.

Wu Ch'ien Ree (Dr. Derrick A. Reeves) began studying with Sifu Wu in the mid 70's.  It was at Bradford Commons that he would begin his journey with Dr. Wu and would ultimately train with his instructor at his Hillard Kwoon.  It was here that He would learn the Wu version of Wing Chun and other fighting systems and go on to develop the system known as Wu Ree.  This term is combined with the two family surnames Wu and Reeves.  Together the names are indicative to An ancient name and the traveling of an ancient path or to heat up or agitate an ancient path (meaning to awaken in the minds of others).  This is the embodiement of the Wu Ree System.

            Our Internal Systems

The internal systems of the Wu Ree Institute, although not traditional do hold to the concept of the traditional concept of internal systems.  There is a use of soft manipultaion of enrgy and a utilization of the breath, chi and other internal tools that provide a non-direct approach to dispelling energy and using it against the opponent.

Most internal systems will neutralize force by rerouting and controling it to unravel its effectiveness.

            Our External Systems

Most external systems use force against force as well as the development of the sinew and muscles to be able to withstand the force of the opponent.  The external systems, although using breathing technique they are used in an entirely different way.  The tightening of the muscles and the exertion of breath from the Tan Tien is even utilized uniquely different.

            Our Mid Systems

There are some systems of Kung Fu  that employ both soft and hard techniques.  Although this seems to be a paradox it simply means that there is a degree of sensitivity and utilization of manipulation of force from the opponent as opposed to direct force.

Both Yin and Yang breathing is accomplished to utilize different effects. and various techniques within the systems will deploy either hard force or internal force.
