The Dimensionality of The Mind Part 1
This article is taken from an unpublished work that will soon be released by Lion legacy Books. It is a part of the systemic research on the essence of man called Essencology. It is an ongoing research that delves into the nature of man and the development of a biblical system that aids man in the formation of a spiritual person-hood.
That the mind is quite remarkable is no secret to those who have delved into the study of this remarkable phenomenon. And yet in spite of all of the unique research the mind is still as much a mystery as it ever was. I firmly believe that this is the case because there is a very important equation that has been removed from the process of understanding the mind. As a matter of fact the same process keeps scientist, both social and natural, from discovering essential keys that unlock those principles that deal with person-hood and individuality.
It is evident that man is much more than the mere physiological as well as the mere combinative union of somatic, chemical and potisiological factors. To reduce man to an organic machine is to limit the type of understanding that can be gathered when looking at man as being a dimensional creature. It is evident that there are physiological and chemical processes that take place in the body and in the brain but the failure to see that these components alone are not enough to substantiate nor to cause a living and thinking conscious individual with the power of intelligence to exist will always hinder the total understanding of what man truly is.
Setting aside that there is a physiological / chemical and energy process that is infused within the entire being of man the question arises how does it work and why. Mere systems of electrical neurons and chemical processes are not enough to produce a living sentient entity that can control the physical system that houses it. How is the mind produced within the brain and what keeps this mind active and resident? The components allow for the intelligence to operate but does the chemical and physiological process produce the intelligence that is another matter all together.
The physiological process which includes the electric energy and the chemical reactions appear to be the relay or modality by which the living intelligence operates through the brain and the somatological housing we call the body but the irreducible question still remains. Why? In the Bible we are given some conceptual principles that may just answer those questions and many more if we dare take the time to examine them.
Genesis 2:7 give us this account:
"And The Lord God Formed man out of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
The Bible, although it was not written to be a science book, gives us some astounding facts that imply that this creator was a super intelligent being with knowledge so vast that we may not even understand how to consider such level of intellectual capacity. This in and of itself will intimidate any scientist or self proclaimed genius. Let us begin with the following facts according to scripture.
1. Elohiym (God) is identified as one who has dimensionality and omni-capabilities as it relates to power and abilities.
Therefore as we view this central character of the them of the creation of man we see that He is both transcendent of time and space and therefore is considered to eternal and infinite. This being uses material essence of the lowest kind (dust - Aphar which is fine powder). This brings us to the next principle:
2. This Entity forms man from the dust of the ground.
This appears to be a very strategic move that, once again, reveals an awesome intelligence. The terminology indicates that there was a willful and intentional formation of the physiological part of man. This also reveals that the there was great consideration in the formation of the physical aspect of man as a purpose given being. This term formed is rendered in the Hebrew language as the word "Yatsar" The term refers to the act of:
1. Squeezing into shape < Yatsar (3334) [ to press that is be made narrow)
2. To mold into a form as a potter
3. To determine (form a resolution)
4. Fashion, form
5. To frame or to make
6. To purpose or determine
It is here that the trained mind will ask questions of the text, meaning explore the living reality of the text. Firstly just about all Bible believing Christians have the understanding that God is an Immaterial Being that does not need nor is He composed of a physical body as man does. Does He have an objectively real substantial existence? I believe He does; however what this existence is may be so far beyond our scientific being to understand or to put in words.
It is here that the mind must be able to discern what the scripture is saying. A God who needs no hands or body forms the physiological somatic tool of man from the dust of the ground. There is nothing said about using water or any other agent to enable the form to remain intact. There is merely a formation of earthen dust by a spiritual entity which is said to create from His Word (St. John 1:1-3). The text reveals that all things that are in existence (ontological) was made by the Logos of God. The writer of the text under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit uses the word "made" which in the Greek text is the word Ginomai and is defined as:
1. To cause to be
2. To generate or cause to come into being
3. To assemble
4. To make or give reality to
The method by which the dust was formed or made to become something other than the physical material of the earth is nothing short of the miraculous. Shapeless immaterial essence causes a physical somatic structure to exist which undoubtedly was infused with the various systemic existences that would become the physical biological systems that were connected to the neural network of the brain. What kind of intelligence can create a systemic organic system whereby every aspect of this physical system is wired into a living control center which we call the brain? Even the body is systemically constructed to experience multidimensional realities.
