SHORT REVIEW

 

I am mainly a piano practitioner although I have practiced the violin, the upright bass and the baritone horn.  The CD project "Beginning Again" was written because I desired to compose a CD project that would showcase my skills as a piano player. I sought to write songs that would feature more acoustic instruments for their gritty earth sound.  "Beginning Again" was the result.

Let Me Go To Grow, represents the explorations of composing that uses very simplistic sounds and yet allowing them to converse through the heart of the composer.  It represents the discovery of the old with the context of a more contemporary structure.  The song grew out of  the emotions of learning to let go of those whom you have either raised or trained.  There are times when you have to respect the wishes of those who you have mentored or taught.

In fact the only way an individual can truly grow is to be released to become who they are inside.  This was a dear and important song for me in that I have many students in several areas.  Sometimes letting  go is hard but it is for the best and is easier on the heart.
