The Power of Music

Music is not just sound or noise but it is sound that has pitch, color and emotional content. It is the direct reflection of the state of one's inner thoughts, emotions, individuality and the decorum in which they have fostered within their human psyche. The musician who plays that which is truly a part of themselves will literally play and mirror both the consciousness and subconscious paradigms that they have experienced or are experiencing.

Every experience becomes a marker within the human psyche and reveals the formation of that individuals personality on so many levels that in many cases the musician is not aware of all that they are feeling, contemplating or even remembering at so many levels on their sub-conscious mind.

I know that my music is a way of releasing those things that cannot be put into words or even constructed in to understandable feelings. My music is my soul and spirit's way of releasing those feelings of joy, sorrow, sometimes even fear or anger that I could not interprete within my active consciousness. I find my self dreaming of playing the piano or even the Violin-Cello (Upright Bass). I go through the day and in many instances I hear rhthyms and cords. My music is my individualization in communication with my person-hood and inner feelings.

When I first began composing I did so to provide backdrop music for my study and research sessions. Being a college professor I would enlist the aid of some of my students to consider a discussion or a writing session over coffee about the human substantial reality of the mind and the music would help our minds to open and becoming more productive. Music is a key to inner relaxation and stimulation of the hemipheres of the brain and of the regions of the living mind. Certain sounds, chords or even the sequence in which cords or scales are composed have a compelling impact on the thought process as well as the relaxation process. Music can agitate, invigorate or cause a volitional self sedation before taking a little snooze.

I approach music very cautiously and intuitively. Sound is a force of energy that does not truly dissipate. I believe it continues to travel throughout the universe. It is obvious that it can be captured and preserved and that it can awaken the mind to emotional content that emmanates from the very sounds of the music itself. It is one way the musician allows others to experience the intimate thoughts and feelings that are occuring inwardly.

God Bless!
