The Music

Music is much more than a conglomeration and arrangement of notes and scales. In fact it is the combination of so much more than the technical aspect of music theory. Music theory is just the modality in which a song is constructed but behind every note, scale or chord there is a systemic expression of feelings, memories and in many cases great joy or pain. Many musicians must play to release the sound of the song because it is there one method of releasing great pain and disapointment.

In general, the music is more than mere music or the sounds with the various pitches, timber and rythms. There is a systematic psychology of thoughts, emotions and desires that are the inspiration of the song. To the musician the music is the expression of self and the liberation of those captive desires and thoughts that can only be expressed through the release of sound. The music is the captive being of the life and meaning of the life for the musician.

Most muscians who are those who are musical artists are not merely trying to make music to sell. Of course this is a wonderful thing to be able to do but the true muscians desire is to release the music that is true to the expression of the heart. When I think of all of the great muscians who endeavored to release what was in them such as artists like Jazz greats: Bill Evans, McCoy Tyner, Ron Carter,Tommy Flanagan and many others will never gain notoriety until their demise.

Their skill, their technique and their music were reflections of their life's journey and yet many will never be known or remembered except by a song. Music is so much more than a song that makes a rotation on the radio station or a fade that makes the top of the chart. The music is a therapy for some that enable them to make it one more day in the pursuit of their happiness and search for the meaning of their lives. In my journey my music is the expression and outlet of the stress and weight of the day. It is a method of releasing my pressures without having to worry about being judged or ridiculed for it.

Music is like the brush of the artist or the camera of the photographer. It just so happens that I paint and have my own photography business so I can related to the artistic connection in all of these fields. Each have their own flow, their own protocols and their own expression. Music is just what it is the expression of one person's feelings and emotions through the construction of sounds. Every note, every rythm and every chord is filled with experiences of the heart.
