I have reached a new arena in writing and composing as well as my playing. I have recently started to learn the lead guitar (specifically the acoustic). I am doing a lot of reading and practicing new techniques and chords as well as my scales. I have learned that music is a lifestyle and one either loves it or they practice it. For those who truly love it their music has become kind of an escape from the stress of the day (It is for me). Because music is my life and hearts desire I started this journey to compose music that I desired to listen to. This type of music was so broad and comprehensive because I love unique instruments and rhythms. I have never composed music for the purpose of pleasing others. I write and compose what is swirling in my head. I hear the music day and night and this is what I try to release through my compositions.
I have found that music is a force of sound that is highly mathematical and impacting of the brain and the mind. Psychologically it will cause the brain to be rewired and susceptible to learning and explorations of more comprehensive knowledge. This is where my music is headed. As I learn more and play more I am learning how to express and release what I hear on the inside. As a researcher, I am always searching for information as to why some people hear this music within them and more importantly what they are to do with it and how. I don't believe that I am narcissistic but I listen to my music when I am leading study groups or reading or studying for my next lecture.
"The Dove and the Flame" represent a new experience with creating. I will be pushing the envelope in this project trying to discover new and exciting boundaries with my music. This project will be a fusion of synthesizers, horns and of course my traditional acoustic instruments (Piano, base and acoustic guitar). I have incorporated more chords and solos with the base and discovering what I feel is my personal system in playing the piano. I am excited to see what comes next.
