The Superiority Complex

What Is The Undergirding For A Superiority Complex

This is not an old term but has been around for quite some time. It is a term that generally suggests that one has a complex (faulty conception of ones self). In Psychology the understanding of a superiority complex is actually a defense mechanism of an individual that suffers with low self esteem. Generally with an inferiority complex there lurks at the lower level consciousness a superiority complex.

What occurs during this time of enacting and exmplifying such behaviors an individual seeks to perserve his/her image while in the presence of others. This display of defense may at times become outbursts of dis-satisfaction with others or intolerance. A person may also seek to berate others while elevating their importance or overexagerating their accomplishments. What psychology labels as a defense mechanism I believe to be an inividual reverting back to the "Primordial Instinctual Urges". The Primordial Instinctual Urges are those Pneumatic (spiritual) instincts that are a part of the larger pattern of urges that were a part of the Adamic Modality of his character at creation (Genesis 1:26-27). These instincts are a part of the original design for man.

Man possesses the propensity to have dominion even in the most timid of individual this complex desire exists. For many reasons within an individual this desire peaks and surfaces at a greater degree in others. Man was created to subjgate this world and bring it under his control (Gen. 1:26). This was one of the very first Pneumatic Institincts that became a part of man as a living thiinking being. Because of the fallen nature of Adam that was integrated into all of his offspring this desire to rule rides throughout the pneumatic, psychological and somatic being of mankind. This desire and modality of behavior can be more dominant in some while more recessive in others.

At times one sees their true output and accomplishments to be very small in their own eyes and this leads one to seek to defend their worth and reputation. When this occurs in general it is the individual that is struggling with their own inner feelings of anxiety and a lack of accomplishment. Because they do not measure up in their own eyes they seek to construct a mode of superiority. This is done to give the image of being greater in the eyes of others as well as in the eyes of themselves. To the degree that the conflict of images of the self exists will determine the intensity of the reactions of superiority complex. In other words, the greater the pain of being inferior that is being felt in the mind the more intense the response of seeking to prove a superior stance or position of being will be develope and manifested.

This complex is common in many outgoing individuals, not all, but many. The Sanguine personality or temperament type is generally said to at times, be very vocal because they re masking or hiding specific feelings of pain or insecurity in many areas.
