Why Believers Struggle With Faith

There have been many anomalies found in the church of the 21st century. In fact the ministry, the doctrine, and eve those protocols that separated her for decades and gave her (the church) her identity have all shifted. In many cases this shift of paradigms have been gradual there appears to be a much more rapid change as it relates to values, ethics and even basic processes. The church which is being bombarded from every side with criticism, unrealistic expectations that are not placed upon any other group and the consistent failure of ministers who are not trained thoroughly as well as the burnout of those who have ministered for a great number of years.

In the church there are typical stressors that are not placed upon others who lead a secular life. Believers are often snubbed by their family and friends as they make a transition in their Christian Walk. In many cases they are ridiculed and harassed on their job for their ethical and biblical belief systems. In fact they are expected to not have flaws and to live a life that is perfect in front of their unsaved counterparts all the while being tempted, influenced and consistently rejected for their belief systems.

The antithetical values of others are generally forced upon them while their own values are considered to be antiquated and unimportant. Within the human mind there are factors that enable all individuals to deal with a certain level of stress and rejection. For most believers their faith is a necessity for their emotional, mental and essential survival. In recent years there has been a shift in the method of instruction in the church as well as a shift in the fundamental topics and materials being used to teach.

Because the scriptures are not generally considered to be relevant in the 21st century many people who are born again have not developed a passion to know and to study the Word of God as in times past. This has produced a mentality that is now governed by the survival mode that consistently focuses on natural life and those successes that come along with everyday living. Basic living skills are now becoming the more important aspects of life and the quality of spirituality has taken a back seat to day to day living.

As a result of this the quality of faith has been diminished in the hearts of many. The concentration on the times and the changes within the family structure and even in the church structure has produced a pseudo faith that withers when it is confronted by the trials and troubles of the day. Most of the emotional content of the heart is spent on tragedy, worry and family confusion. One of the number one factors for the decline in faith and believers struggling to attain a strong faith has to do with the quality of preaching and teaching that is given by leadership. Because faith cometh by hearing (Romans 10:17) it is essential that leadership begin to preach at a level that impacts the believer. It is important to remember that the world and the trouble within it has consistently become more and more perilous. With the limited amount of time that the leader has to sow into the believer every minute is essential.
