A Word To The Wise: "Asam"
The people of God are in a very exciting time of the history of man. We are in the best of times and the worst of times. What I mean by this is that we are in the latter days of the existence of man and many perilous things are upon the world but we are also in the best of times. We are told that in the last days men will be lovers of themselves more than lovers of God and that evil men and seducers will wax worse and worse (1 Tim. 3:16). This seems to be a dilemma that leaves us no hope or sense of peace and yet the scripture does give us hope. We are told that where sin abounded grace did much more abound (Romans 5:20).
In many instances the church is frowned upon as being intolerant, outdated and not relevant to the progress of the times in which we live. Those who do not understand spiritual principles do not understand the important part that the church plays in the world today. I, at some times do not believe that even the church understands her importance in the world in which we live. We are called the "salt of the earth" and the "light of the world" (Matthew 5:13-16). This is very important in the scheme of God's plans.
The church carries the only force in the world that can hold back the powers of darkness that seeks to pierce the veil of this reality and wreak havoc upon the world of man. Because of the presence of the Holy Spirit in the church darkness has not been totally freed. There have been times when the powers of darkness has infiltrated the church and caused a lot of devastation and yet there has always been a true church in the earth since the creation of man.
This church at times struggles and fails and yet the God in her causes remarkable things to come forth out of her when she is in submission to Him. This is the focus of this article. The total submission to God is a must if the world is to experience the healing power of Christ in the earth. As mentioned earlier we who are the church (Spirit-filled believers) are called both "salt and Light" by Jesus. This indicates that within the church there is something that can preserve, cleanse and heal those who are struggling in the world. In truth the church is a storehouse of the things of God.
In the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 28:8) there is a mention of storehouses. It is here that we are told the following:
"The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee."
It is here that we learn that the Lord would command the blessing upon the Covenant People (those who are connected to Abraham, through Christ see Galatians 3:29) in the storehouses... This term storehouses is the word "Asam". It is a Hebrew word that suggests there exists within the presence of the covenant people of God those buildings that are edifices where blessings have been heaped together for the purpose of being stored for later use. These edifices were generally those chosen buildings chosen by God in which the surplus of God was to be stored for the people. The blessings were known as the "berakah" (the prosperity or present). Blessings are those empowerments to prosper in whatever one puts their hands to prosper.
The church it seems, has yet to understand that she is the "Asam Berakah", the storehouse of blessings. In the church exists "All Blessings". These blessings were given that she might be the force for good in the earth and not merely to be made fat with the wealth of the land. The scriptures reveal this very important truth:
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:" (Ephesians 1:3).
We have become those storehouses of the blessings of God to show forth the praise and power of God in the earth as salt, light and whatever God needs us to bring forth.
