The Nepheshiological Principle of Ignorance
One of the greatest kingdoms in existence is the Kingdom of God. The king of this Kingdom is so powerful that there are no words that can adequately describe or reveal His true potential. In most instances he can only be describe through negation. One of the most awesome aspects of His nature is His Omniscience. He is said to be a being that possesses "all knowledge" that is described as "scientia". His knowledge is transcendent and therefore is beyond any knowledge in the entirety of the ontological existence. Possessing transcendent knowledge means that His knowledge would also be infinitely dimensional (Of every type and to every degree). John spoke of the Logos of this being we call God as the "Living Divine Discourse" or "The Thinker of the Thought of thought".
From the stand point of being Logos (John 1:1) God and His character must be considered with great significance and with great care. He is the origin of the power to think as well as every type of thought and matters that can be thought. he is literally the producer of the"Primus Mens" (The first mind and thought). As the first mind that produced first thought it is safe to assume that the intelligence of God is beyond comprehension to every being but Himself. Therefore, His nature is imbued with the thought of thought or the reason of reason. The sense of elocution and the being of truth.
When the Spirit of God is considered it is important to realize that this is the very energizing life of God by which His thought and power cause existence to spring "exnihilo" or "exmaterialis". It is the energizer of His will and the implementer of His knowledge. In fact it is through His Spirit that others can be empowered with supernatural knowledge and become partakers of His nature. When the Spirit of God abides within the believer's spirit and heart there is a transference and deposit of the being of God. This deposit is not an infinite deposit from the sense that one could ever have the full being of God and yet the question must be asked, "Is one portion of the infinite less than infinite?" This consideration gives to us a very serious paradox as it relates to the Spirit-filled believer.
This dilemma begs us to ask the question, "If believers indeed have the Spirit of God within them why is there very little passion to know the things of God?" It is apparent that there is a grave issue as it relates to the people of God on a grand scale. We are told from scripture the following, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" (Hos. 4:6). We are warned about the lack of knowledge and yet, for the most part, many choose to not pursue knowledge with a sense of urgency. We are even given a mandate to disciple men and women (Matt. 28:18-19). We are told by the Lord to "go and to teach!" It is here that the church has missed this very important mandate. The term for teach is the word "Matheteuo" which means to:
1. Disciple
2. To enroll as scholars
The emphasis is upon the concept of discipleship. This term matheteuo can be used transitively or intransitively. As such, it will mean to cause individuals to enroll for the purpose of being instructed until they become scholars and it can mean to enroll for the purpose of becoming a scholar. On both accounts it indicates that it is the instructor/teacher's job to teach at a rate and level to produce those who are scholars about the commandments and the doctrine of Christ. Secondarily it means that those who are learning should be, not merely willing but excited to learn of the Master and Savior Jesus who is Christ. With this we can understand that there is a Nepheshiological (psychological) issue that prevails. To be commanded of God to become knowledgeable and to willingly do as little as possible to learn reveals that there is a significant problem within the very psyche of man.
It is probable that the spirit of the age has been integrated within the church and the church has lost here sense of being "Kingdom Minded" as well as her ability to be true loyal servants of the King of kings. There are several issue at play here. One is there is a lack of interest in spiritual things because there is a great level of carnality in the church. The church is preoccupied with natural things and natural pursuits of life. To work every day and to have to study each and every day has become to tedious to a church who sees studying, praying or even fasting just another chore to accomplish. Because our perspective has shifted to one of self preservation and self pursuits our flesh finds no value or pleasure in extensive study that may not yield financial gain. We have based the value of spiritual things on how they can impact us in a natural way.
It is very clear to see that there is a lack of Kingdom-mindedness and genuine love and passion for the things of God. The church must be made to understand that it is a part of her responsibility to excel in the knowledge and wisdom of Christ. We are to be the bearers of truth and knowledge concerning Christ, salvation and of the Kingdom of God. Whether the church of this age will rise to the occasion to become what God has decreed will depend upon the passion of the modern day leader to invoke the will of God and to ever teach and propagate the Word of God as it is warning all of their responsibility to come to know and teach the Word of Life.
